Beauty Therapy

Beauty Therapy

We are pleased to offer this course to our students. It focuses on the development of the underlying principles and practical skills required in the beauty therapy industry. It is designed to deliver a high level of occupational capability. Candidates who successfully achieve this qualification could progress to the NVQ in Beauty Therapy; progression to the City and Guilds Diploma in Beauty Therapy (KS 5) or City and Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Body Treatments.

KS4

Students are taught in option column groups. They are taught over five lessons per fortnight. All students must pass every unit in order to be successful. The City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Beauty Therapy Services has an equivalent value of 2 GCSE's. Each candidate will study the following units :-

Working in Beauty Therapy
Maintaining Health and Safety in the salon
Client care and communication
Provide a facial treatment
Provide manicure treatments
Provide Pedicure treatments.

Assessment
On-line Gola multiple choice exam
Formative practical assessment x 3 for each practical unit
Summative practical assessment x 1 for each practical unit

Girls are expected to attend extra curricular sessions in the salon to improve on their treatment procedures and reach the required standard. All work is assessed at every stage and feedback given in order to improve.

KS5

Students are taught in option column groups. They are taught over eight lessons per fortnight. All students must pass every unit in order to be successful. The City and Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy has an equivalent value of 6 GCSE's. Each candidate will study the following units (having successfully completed the Level 2 Certificate in beauty Therapy services at KS 4) :-

Working in Beauty Therapy
Maintaining Health and Safety in the salon
Client care and communication
Provide a facial treatment
Provide manicure treatments
Provide Pedicure treatments
Remove hair using waxing techniques
Provide nail art
Apply make-up
Apply and maintain nail enhancements
Provide eyelash and eyebrow treatments
Salon reception duties

Level 3 award in artificial nail structures (once they have successfully completed the Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy).
