Music

Music

All students study Music at Key Stage 3, with two lessons a fortnight. GCSE Music is also an option subject at Key Stage Four. We also offer A-Level and BTEC Level 3 Music at Key Stage 5. Throughout Key Stage Three students study a broad range of music, including music from Wales, Europe and from around the World, which will prepare pupils for further study in music. Pupils will develop their performing, composing and appraising skills in a holistic environment across all Key Stages, focusing on improving their confidence, group work and creativity skills. Pupils also have regular opportunities to perform in lunchtime and evening concerts to display their work. Learning and teaching is varied for each topic, including solo and ensemble work. Pupils also have access to perform and create music using ICT and Music Technology in the Music Department’s Apple Mac Computer Suite. Pupils also have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument or take voice lessons with one of our peripatetic teachers. We currently offer the following lessons:
